Meet Max and Lisa.

Hello, I’m Lisa and that’s Max sitting next to me in Chez Thami’s in The Fes Medina. We’ve started this website because we Really Wanna Go on an adventure as Travelling Bards. With this intention we plan to fund and sustain long term travel in order to bring you stories from around the world.

Max is a storyteller and Dungeon Master and I am a writer and poet. Both of  were initiated as Bards of Caer Abiri (Avebury) in 1999. More recently, we joined the Gorsedh to become Bards of Ynys Witrin. In 2013 I won the annual Bardic competition to become the 8th Chaired Bard of Glastonbury. What is a Bard?

We are into Storytelling, Empowerment and Magical Transformation.

Over the last 23 years we have created incredible magic in our lives together. We teach fire-walking and dispel limiting beliefs, create powerful public ceremony and have also built a magnificent water temple under Glastonbury Tor – The White Spring. Our healing and hospitality business, Wizard Well-Being, has been operating since 2002. In that time we have provided a variety of well-being venues at festivals and walked across burning  hot coals with thousands of people.

For many years, we worked as healers offering VortexHealing consultations. We built a small healing practice in Glastonbury before deciding our skills in hospitality can provide a healing environment for  more people.

Stewardship of The White Spring Sanctuary was our main focus from 2007 and we began to work more on a community level. We began by volunteering at the Robert Barton Trust to provide support for homeless folk. Soon enough we found ourselves organising Glastonbury Community Beltane Celebrations.

For the past three years we have been managing The Assembly Rooms of Glastonbury, putting on events and providing fantastic hospitality. As a result, we have the chance to work with musicians, healers and speakers from all around the world.

Magic will always be a big part of our lives.

Our lives are dedicated to creating sacred space, inspiration, and magical transformation. We are Bards, Firewalkers, Temple Keepers and Wizards, and more important than that, we are mum, dad, and grandparents. Family and tribe are really important to us.

Now, a huge transformation is underway. We Really Wanna Go and travel the world as Travelling Bards. To explore the world offering presentations and collaborations while collecting stories for our travel and folklore blog. Taking the stories of this land to other places and bringing stories of other tribes back here.

Our first trip was in 2017. A surprise invitation to Pantheacon, a massive pagan conference in San Jose. Both of us were invited as ambassadors of The White Spring. We went along to a fancy hotel with over 2000 other pagans and presented a talk, meditation and held a ritual with RJ Stewart.

 Really Wanna Go is the start of our journey.

It will take us another two years or so to complete our current projects and become location independent.  (Max says “Is location independent a fancy term for homeless?). Yes Max, it is.  However we will be seeking hospitality and ‘being at home’ in different locations around the world.

Glastonbury will always be our true home;  our family and community is here; as a result, there will be regular  trips home to check in with loved ones. Not only that, Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is something we want to keep on our schedule.

Commitment to become Travelling Bards

With the creation of Really Wanna Go comes a commitment and a promise. Setting a bold intention is our impulse to keep going and not lose track of our dreams. Neither of us are travel experts. (yet). This is an experiment and we don’t know how it will work out. No doubt there will be mistakes and mishaps along the way. You will get to read about all our glorious failures and hopefully our successes as we hit the road as travelling bards.
